Production factors, technical, and economic efficiency of soybean (<i>Glycine max</i> L. Merr.) farming in Indonesia

Abstract Most soybean farming in Indonesia is still performed conventionally. Farmers are less interested cultivating soybeans because the production yields relatively small. This research aims to determine factors influencing production, inefficiency of soybean, and technical efficiency (TE) economic (EE) level farming. Primary data were collected using a survey method farmers paddy field areas Tabanan Regency Bali Province, Indonesia. Data analyzed stochastic frontier approach Frontier 4.1 analysis tool. Factors that positively affected increasing land area, urea NPK fertilizers, seeds. The factor affecting was experience. average TE value 0.77, implying study area efficient. However, EE below 0.70 implied inefficient. Based on farmers’ experience, values getting lower. low suspected causing interest soybean.
